Steam is bringing on the Music

Valve has revealed their next Big Picture expansion, a music library management system, with beta sign-ups now live

Things are looking extremely good at the moment for steam.

But isn't this feature is really just to play your existing music while playing a game in Steam or in big picture mode? Or is Steam actually providing the streaming services for your music?

From the article, you point steam to whatever library you have, and it pulls it from there. I can't see anything about streaming. Could be an added feature though.

It doesn't seem too fantastic to me then, perhaps they will implement streaming to your steam box, but I don't often find I need to control what music is playing while in a game other than skipping a song.

I think it's cool just to have the feature. Just adds to the value. i for one don't even listen to music while I game. Kinda pointless.

Yeah, but sometimes it's fun like when you're on a rampage in Battlefield with Another One Bites the Dust playing in the background

Looks very similar to how Windows Media Centre functions. Really seems cool however
