Telkom and now MWEB peering; local gaming latency set to improve

Probably because the companies have signed an NDA, and legally they can't say anything without the other getting the lawyers out.

Good news for those people using mweb I suppose. Makes no difference to me I don't think I'll be a client of mweb anytime soon.

confirmed

80ms - 100ms on mweb gamezone BC2 servers last night

super weird actually seeing such low ping

I'm betting it's because MWEB is now paying Telkom for peering and they don't want other ISP's to know about it.
Or because MWeb are peering for free without symmetric traffic and Telkom doesn't want other people to know. It's all speculation until someone confirms something.

Nooo dude, good for EVERYONE. Remember, it goes both ways.

This is awesome news. Now I don't have to buy extra Afrihost cap the whole time just to play on mweb servers and no more "Ah man, I can't join you guys there because it's MWEB."

And MR Rifman, now we can finally finish our Borderlands session!! Whooooohoooo! (We couldn't play together because I use Telkom and he uses Mweb so we couldn't peer- too laggy).

/hands Buzz an ice pack.

And HOORAY!!!! I thought we'd be stuck in this cesspool forever. Low latency gaming with our Telkom peers, here we come!

This is awesome news. It was so annoying joining LIVE lobbies that were hosted by MWEB hosts. Good stuff!
