The Sega Megadrive/Genesis that is selling now, is terrible. It uses the same Sega-On-Chip system that the fake chinese Mega Drive consoles use. This makes it no better than a cheap counterfeit Megadrive.
The real Megadrives used Yamaha FM Synthesis chips for music in games. I don't know what the one they're selling now uses, but it's way out of tune for the music in games.
In my opinion, the game music is 50% of the experience, so when it's out of tune it ruins it completely for me.
A new Megadrive/Genesis that can mimic a YM2612 FM chip properly, is way up at the top of my list. It's not a pipedream, they already exist in an unofficial capacity, they're just not available locally.
