I also tend to rip the guts out of old psu's to rebuild working ones so some of the parts can be in excess of 10 years old.
I still have a SoundBlaster AWE64 lying in a cupboard at home, but that was the last time I bought a sound card and I have not used it in many many years. I don't do any specialised sound so it is something I do not spend money on.
As for DVD? I have both IDE and SATA drives lying around at home.
I actually use an IDE drive on my tv pc as all the sata ports are in use, the things last forever with a little tlc
I gave boxes and boxes of cables away recently, I have 1 box left, it has 2 sata, 1 ide and a couple of usb cables in it. In case I ever need them.
I still have a 19"CRT screen in the garage

In case I ever need it, for trebuchet ammo maybe?
