This is what happens when building a gaming PC goes terribly wrong

Wouldn't it mean dead CPU? Unless the pins are stuck inside the motherboard o_0

Either depending on the processor/socket type, but most modern processors have pins in the motherboard socket and contacts at the bottom of the processor.

This is why it's important to keep your socket cover on your motherboard if there is no CPU socketed :)

As I kept scrolling I could feel little parts of me dying. Almost as bad as watching a "Will it Blend" video.

If you can bend them back without breaking them they can work again. That is going to be a momentous task, could try and use a heat gun to soften the metal and then bend each one back.

Nothing is worse than dropping R10,000 on a brand-new GeForce GTX 1070 and receiving a broken, uninsured graphics card.

Tbh, if you don't insure a R10k hardware purchase then you're just asking for it.

Thank god in SA a place like Wootware or TakeAlot will replace it for you if the shipping company does that.

Yeah I've brought a CPU back from the brink by unbending the pins. My post was merely to see if there was a correction needed on bent pins = dead motherboard :p

I demand that some of these people hand back their PCMR membership cards and leave the system building to people with a little more experience.

Surprisingly with AMD's new AM4 chips, PGA is still being used! As opposed to Intel's BGA & LGA.
