Traffic Fines

Yesterday I became the not-so-proud owner of two traffic fines. One for R60 and another for R300. Thanks to my guardian angel these were not in Gauteng or any other major city or I would be sitting on about R2000 to pay.

I would just like to know if anybody knows how I can go about cancelling one or both of them, or at least ask if the price be halved (seeing as though I'm a struggling unemployed student). Can I email somebody about this or do I have to fax something through? Any help will be greatly appreciated :D

All you can do is approach the head of the traffic department in writing that you're a student and request that it be reduced (worked for me). They probably won't cancel them however.

Ok, but should I write to the head of the traffic department where I was caught (Colesburg) or to the general head of the traffic department?

It shouldn't take that long, but Murph is correct in saying that the letter needs to go to the traffic department where the fine was issued.
Trust me I generate enough of these to know the process :)

To be honest I highly doubt that letter will get anywhere, knowing our countries wonderfully dependable system.Your best bet is go to there yourself. That way you are guaranteed to bring it to thier attention.

Ja, I wouldn't rely on any form of written communication. Best is to do it in person.

Otherwise sell n kidney, pay the fines and get yourself a new gaming rig with the change for after the op.

A quick trip down to colesburg would probably cost her twice the ticket price in petrol alone. Let alone going back.

PB, man up and pay it - those are very very low fines as you said yourself.
