Uncapped....what do you download?

I would like to know from all the newly uncapped peeps, what exactly do you download (legally obviously)... I get that you can download MMO's, patches, tv series, games, game demo's etc but surely after a month or two there will be very little left to download and will probably use about 10 - 20gig a month or am I missing something.

I ask because I'm on the fence at the moment whether or not to go uncapped as I see myself landing up in this predicament probably within a month.

as I play alot of closed beta games online I am always downloading patches... I download TV shows and the odd movie here and there... I also find my underground music online but can only get it Intl

I've been on uncapped since december and can stay that it's pretty awesome not having to watch my cap. Having a ps3 can use up a lot of bandwidth depending on patches, gaming online or downloading from psn. For instance, last month i downloaded the two dlc for AC2 - that was 2gb and then imported songs for GH5 which also was about 2gb. So I could download that with not having to worry that i would be capped.

Exactly my point, no one can download 24/7 for months on end, sooner or later you have to run out of things to download and will only download bits here and there probably not exeeding 15 gigs per month.

I agree that not having to constantly worry about cap is a big plus point.

Well sock if your 4 people in a house and each have to download there updates and stuff and watching clips it racks up quickly.

Me and my brother have lots of games and updating all those games can take a lot of cap.
Also started hosting games for friends and that can also eat up cap like nobodies business. (4meg line)
Streaming some over seas radio station is also awesome since they have very interesting stations.

The not having to check you cap usage is the greatest in the world.

I agree, the best part is not having to worry about being capped. There are a lot of people who use the net in our house so 5GBs goes really quickly. From there you top-up a few times during the month even if you watch your usage carefully. Uncapped is definitely worth it for me.

Well, I figure Mweb and lot will install a WSUS server on their side. To cut the Windows Updates.

I think they obviously cache a lot of content. You know, the most used...

It will only make sense for them.

Once you lose the cap and just use the internet the way god intended, you'll find yourself racking up quite a few gigs every month. Your usage pattern completely changes because you won't have that nagging feeling that you'll need to top up again soon. You don't think about downloading anything, you just do it, and don't tell me you haven't turned down thousands of random downloads because they were too big and they would eat up your cap. Heck, how many times have you not pushed that HD button in Youtube because of your cap.

i once read somewhere that it would almost be impossible for one person to view all the p0rn on the net...

...uncapped? maybe you can try and see how true that is

//random thought after a looooooooooooooooong week

but yes youtube, updates, series, facebook etc will surely eat up a whole lot of gigs

At home 80% of the time when I'm not watching Movies or Series I'm listening to Online Radio stations , This alone already puts me on 20gb+ usage a month. Then comes the Updates / Demos / Youtubing / Skype / etc. I'm pretty sure my usage wont easily go below 30gb per month.

30gb+ Not having to worry when I want to test some new applications / games vs 5gb + Having to restrict all my internet impulses.

Even if people Start downloading less in 2-3 months , I think 80% of the Regular users will still benefit more than they previously did. I'm not talking about people only checking their emails and News updates on news24.

I think alot of ppl will get uncapped and for the 1st 2-4 months will d/l anything and everything because they can, then the novelty will wear off...hehe and there also wont be any HDD left :P from there I think people wont just d/l for the sake of it, except for anime fan bois :) usage will prob go from 100gb the 1st few months to about 30gb max. Hopefully by then the price will have dropped even more due to competition and uncapped will be the standard and capped accounts a thing of the past. The first 6 months will be sheer chaos will d/l abuse from ppl tho :P

It would be interesting to know how much porn is on the net....haha...

I haven't got uncapped yet - but it is on the way.

I spend a lot of time on image sites - or at least as much as I dare (by images I mean pictures, not .isos - don't get confused), internet radio stations do get some listens, and Youtube, unfortunately, gets avoided like the plague. In addition - there are a few forums I don't go to because the load of banners and signatures etc can make the average page load just over a megs worth of data.

Not the least, I can't make use of all the streaming sites that have been popping up lately - Crunchyroll and AnimeNewsNetwork being some I could mention. Losing the cap means being able to not worry at all about the time and data flowing through my connection.

Agreed, I had a bad habit of streaming online radios back when I had my 4mb line with a 5gb cap... it went through 100-250mb a night
