I'm trying to find out what we as South African more like to play, is it FPS games, MMO, what? And if any, what specific games? Battlefield 3? Starcract 2? Dota? WOW? Also if you guys like competitive play.

Give us your opinion! And why u think so!

Have a kick ass day guys and gals

It will be genre/type dependent.

Each game will be best for its type and genre in which it's based. For example: In terms of 3rd person Horror-Survival; The Last of Us gets my vote. Most other genres are still [in my mind] undecided. Nothing has really captured me nearly as greatly as TLoU.

As a dirty, filthy console peasant, I would say GTA V "whistling:

On PC would most certainly be FPS and MOBA games, with strong multiplayer roots. So BF3, MW3, Dota 2, and aparently The Sims, if sales numbers are to be believed...SA'ners love them some Sims action...

I like variety, I would get very bored if I just had to play the same kind of games over and over again.

How I started feeling about Battlefield 3 again after playing it for a few weeks. Same shit same game.

Ok, so it seems so far that the general consensus is FPS. Thanks Haygs for pointing out one very important aspect of this question, I should have asked, "what do u believe iare the best FPS games atm?" and "what do u believe are the best MMO games atm?"

I dont really know much about too many FPS games, I generally only play MMO games, favorite being SC2

Oh well, I understood Massive Multiplayer Online games to be things like sc2, we it is multiplayer, it is massive, and it is online. However, after following ur advice on looking up online to the real definition, it is clear to me that it is more related to one's avatar and actual hero/character in an online multiplayer stage. Thank you for pointing that out. However, that does not chance my question, what are the more favored games to be played in the line of FPS, MMO and what ever SC falls under lol.

SC2 is an RTS (real time strategy) game for future reference.

I'd say the arkam series, replay them before origins comes out, it's going to be a blast :D

As for online gaming, I sunk a ton of hours into BF3, if you're into that sort of thing, just annihilating a field with a tank and a buddy(engineer) is awesome, I've dabbled a bit with Gears online, which is OK, it's not actually a lot of fun, it's messing around, also had a blast in ME3's multiplayer MUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better than I ever expected it to be...

Hahahaha, well unfortunatly im not really into that sort of thing, the only FPS game I have played (and I hope I get this right ;)) is Farcry 2, MGS and MW. And to tell u the truth, it scares this crap out of me, my heart cannot take the suspense lol, never knowing whats going to happen when u walk around here or what u end up doing lol, so I generally become a Sniper lol, I crawl everywhere slow as snail crap and just take ppl from a distance, never played these games online though.

I have however on my main acc played in the region of 14000 sc2 games and about 4000 on my smurff. And that obv all online. Even my wife knows, I cant watch scary movies with her, so I think FPS games are not for me :)

FPS i guess,i wish a Borderlands3 would come out.Loved the first one,the advertising was top notch and totally got me hooked on the game.Simply loved both the FPS and RPG mix (I disliked how slow enemies died though, playing Borderlands2 on a high difficulty setting and a common enemy takes like 3-4 magazines to kill.Would have loved it if there were simply more enemies that were smarter instead of simply being buffier with more damage)

Yeah I forgot to mention, played Borderlands 2 as well, that on its own also scared me a bit at times lol, getting such a fright I nearly hit my monitor once or twice, guess I'm just not made for that sort of games lol.

Pokemon I have played, but hell I would not even know which one it was, there was a stage where u get like Silver Pokemon and Gold and red, those are the last ones I played, now I am dating back here 12 years odd ago, and since then I thought it kinda died out, I was actually really surprised today to see there is a new release of it. I would actually love to take a look at it again.

Simply for the fact that you have virtually unlimited replay value; FPS's and MOBA's win by a mile. However FPS will truly edge out MOBA by the mere fact that you have tangible rewards for continued play; rewards that strengthen you character significantly. I would go as far as to say that FPS's have a slightly RPG-like model to their approach to MP.

TL:DR?

FPS
MOBA
Sims
Action
