When will the ATI price drop reach SA?

AMD SA head honcho Imi Mosahebe told us that the prices should come down in accordance with international price cuts, but that AMD has little control and it is really up to the local distributers such as Rectron and Sahara
 
I read that nVidia is dropping the price of the 260 cards to $165. Great news for anyone looking to upgrade around now.
 
I think a realistic approach would be to wait for the R/$ to go down then PC prices should fall quite quickly.

Yes I saw. The Advertising Authority South Africa made a ruling that stated that Prices may not be advertised excluding Vat any more as it confused some of the general public (AKA those that can't do maths).

Leave as is but if you do get a call from them you now know why. ;)

I think they targeted Incredible Connection and Vodacom, with that ruling. I personally think that soon we might have a rule that the advertised price must include all admin charges as well, as you still see billboards that have *excludes R180 activation fee in them.

But you aren't the likes of Vodacom or Incredible connection so they might not waist their time. :)
 
Hope the prices come down soon, wanna get 2x HD 4870 2Gig and Crossfirex them 4gig of video memory woop woop :p

You won't see the price drop on the 4850 for a long time, the card is to popular at that price. And the 4850 1GB @ R2k? You must be kidding, maybe by chirstmas if you lucky ;)
