Why does Windows Firewall block Windows Update?

In Windows 7 that is...

Anyone have any idea as to how to allow it through (as it should logically do automatically)? It's frustrating having to turn the firewall off manually so that my PC doesn't shout at me for not checking for new updates.

Thanks

Double check its not added to the Exceptions list?

If its not, add it,

If it is, make sure its ticked

By default though it should be

When I go to "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall," Windows Update doesn't appear on the list.

Where exactly do I browse to to add it to the list, if possible?

Control Panel > Action Center > Change Action Center Settings - Untick 'Check for Updates' under the Maintenance Messages

Replace the windows firewall with a antivirus with a firewall this way the antivirus takes over and the windows firewall gets disabled

Unfortunately I just bought BitDefender Antivirus, which doesn't have a Firewall included. I'll just have to Google to solve my problem I guess :)

Thanks!
