Snap poll. Feel free to state your reasons in the thread. The thread title says it all, really. If you haven't read the article yet, here's ours (citing Giant Bomb's report).

Basic details: it looks like it is going to cost the same as the PS4 did on launch day, but feature more powerful hardware. Sony will apparently require games to release with a NEO and "standard" mode.

I will have to wait till it's out and when more information is released first.

I don't care about higher res, but if it means my current 30fps games can all run at 60fps then I will consider it as it will greatly improve the experience.

My launchday PS4 switches itself on in the middle of the night and randomly ejects a disc with random beeps, i would want an "upgrade" that fixes all these petty issues.

On a side note,

Your move, MS

MS has made its move with the PC Master Race.

Not on release. Will take the wait and see approach.
Though it would be cool if you could trade in your original PS4 for a discount :D.

That makes sense! If the XBone ever does something like this then your idea would make me go for it.

Im pretty upset with this development as a whole... But yes i will probably "upgrade" ...

Im annoyed because buying a console should be a once off purchase... thats the biggest part of the console appeal... No need to ever worry about playing the latest games, or what settings your machine can run a game at etc etc etc...

This just pissed all over that...

Iv been saving cash to maybe get the PSVR, but i will more than likely sell my PS4 and use the money to upgrade now...

But just like the Xbox 360 and PS3, they went through a few iterations of the same model. The slim, the fat, etc.

My question then is, how is this any different?

Sony normal release a 'slim' version a few years after there main generation upgrades but it seems like this time they decided to change the hardware enough to require a different version of games. Should be interesting to see if this will be a good move. Could have more sales since people with the original will upgrade, or could cause people to jump ship to another platform.

Its a fuck ton more powerful in nearly all aspects? The previous iterations haven't improved game play or quality on any level... This will improve nearly everything about the PS4

I dont think many will "jump ship" so to speak, and im not going to be surprised if we see the exact same news from X Box come E3.

The main thing that pisses me off is that the new console will load faster, Look better, and perform at 1080p 60fps like they said the PS4 would...

But isn't it around the same market price as the PS4 was when it was released? so it's really negligible.

Ya but in the years since its launch obviously parts are going to get cheaper... That was the thing about the Slim, parts got better, and they could make something half the size do the same thing... I dont have anything against a slim model... I just dont like the fact that they launching something that is "BETTER" that what i bought thinking would be the best on offer for at least 8 - 10 years...

What stops them from doing this every 3 years?

The PlayStation will become like Call of Duty. You'll have to buy a new one every year. :p

But the PS3 fat was better... it was not only a gaming console, but doubled as a door stop!
