XBOX Live - user region affects online gameplay?

Hi guys. Please shed some light on this.

With GTA V coming out soon I'd like to play some MP with my fellow SA gamers here in MyGaming. However, my account is located on the UK servers because they offer better content. Now, what happens if I join a game that's full of SA gamers? Will I be worse off since I'm in the UK? Or is there some intelligent routing that happens on the back-end? If need be I'll migrate my account to the SA region.
 
I don't think that the region your account is set to has any effect as far as I know, but we do have to put up with a fair bit of latency for most things xbox since we're on the other side of the world from most servers
 
I don't think it'll make any difference if you migrate. The last I heard the SA servers are also located in the UK.
 
It won't affect you, games usually pair you up with people based on your ping and not your account location.
