And what if they start producing garbage? Someone who is 'loyal' to a company would just keep on buying it and even defend it against criticism no matter what. I would say, support the product if it's good, not the company, just because they have made good products in the past.

Agreed, the xbone was purely a result of Microsoft exploiting brand loyalty to bend the consumer's wallet over and ride it to the bank for every cent.

Then we also have EA and deadspace 3, simcity, MoH warfighter etc. The xbone isn't the only example how brand loyalty can burn your pocket.

I don't agree, folks support a brand for many reasons, some blindly. I don't think it is a simple answer.

I don't believe it is a good reason, but it may be good enough for some.

when i had to choose between the ps3 and xbox360 the blu ray player was the deal clincher for me.

but this time i think i will stay with PS as i do not care about exclusives(i have only played 3), i just like ps+
