Geohot raises enough cash through donations to fight Sony

24 February 2011

Earlier this week, we reported that infamous PS3 hacker George “GeoHot” Hotz was asking for donations to help pay his legal fees in an ongoing court case against Sony.

A post on his blog reveals that the plea seems to have done the trick, at least for now.

“Thank you so so much for all of your help, things are looking up money wise. Expect to see a few more lawyers on my responses! I have enough to cover my legal fees for the time being. And in the absolute worst case scenario, we don’t want Sony getting it :-P”

Sony filed a lawsuit agaist Hotz back in January when the young hacker released security keys for the PlayStation 3 online. The hack allows users to jailbreak their console, and run software that Sony does not necessarily approve of.
