Leaked footage of Valve’s Half-Life: 3wave emerges

22 September 2016

Mention the number “3” and the name Half-Life in the same sentence and most gamer’s hearts will skip a beat.

While Valve’s sequel is becoming less and less likely, there are other games Gabe Newell and his team could be working on.

One of these is “3wave”, a multiplayer title based on a Quake mod that shares many similarities with what eventually became Team Fortress 2.

The game was never officially released however, as it along with a number of other games and assets (most notably Half-Life 2) were leaked to the public in 2013.

That’s where Valve News Network’s Tyler McVicker comes in, reports Ars Technica.

After hearing of the leaked Threewave mod in February (and apparently tracking down a complete version from a Vietnamese FTP server), McVicker worked with a programmer going by the handle PixelMiner to fix the outstanding issues making the mod unplayable.

After months of work, the results of their efforts are now playable and available for download.
