There’s one massive unfixable problem with Windows 10 updates

6 October 2016

MyGaming recently reported on a new Windows 10 update that had inadvertently caused micro-stutters and reduced performance in-game.

In truth, this is systemic of a much wider issues with Windows 10 updates that did not impact its previous OS releases – it doesn’t allow you to choose whether or not you want to update to a new patch.

As PCMag writes, this has much bigger implications than just performance issues in games:

So here is what we can expect, something that could easily happen in the next few years:

Instead of a simple reboot issue, a patch goes out that fries the machine dead.

There is no reboot problem because the machine will not boot at all and you cannot get far enough to even revert to the previous install.

We are getting a glimpse into the future if Microsoft persists with forced upgrades; the company needs to rethink its strategy immediately.

The problem doesn’t have to be as severe as that to cause massive issues either – simple UI changes or “upgrades” to code could break your PC at Microsoft’s whim.

We trust Microsoft to prevent these types of issues from occurring, but the recent release of a patch that causes performance issues in games is slightly worrying.

People love to be paranoid it seems. Ever thought that you a choice in what upgrades boeing does to their engines that could potentially make the plane you are on fall out of the sky? That will be much more severe than one or two pc’s not booting.

Im sure if there is an update that absolutely kills any machine, it will be picked up by MS and resolved before it gets to your PC.
Ive had windows 10 on the fast insider ring since launch and my gaming rig is purring like a kitten with it, I dont miss windows 7 or 8.1, windows 10 is working for me without any issues whatsoever. Seems like people are just afraid of newer things.
