Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will have a number of different game modes to simulate realistic combat and consequences.

Detailed on the Activision blog, these include a YOLO game mode, which can only be unlocked after completing the game on Specialist mode.

In turn, the Specialist mode can only be unlocked after completing the game once on any difficulty.

Specialist mode aims to simulate realism by adding various changes to gameplay mechanics, as outlined below:

  • You can only heal with Nano Shots, there is no health regeneration in this mode.
  • Helmets are your only protection from headshots. They will take permanent damage and will need to be replaced.
  • If you get shot in the legs, it will impact your movement. If you get shot in either arm, it will impact your ability to use equipment or aim down sights. Your weapon can be shot out of your hands.

YOLO mode takes this one step further, adding permadeath into the mix of difficulty modifiers.

If you die while playing through the game in YOLO mode, you will have to restart the entire campaign.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to release on 4 November 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
