Sony’s next-gen PlayStation 4 Pro is set to release in South Africa at the end of November, and gamers are already pre-ordering their consoles and preparing for the graphics upgrade enabled by the improved device.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will be the first gaming console to support 4K gaming, and will bring 1080p gaming more in-line with the level of gaming PC graphics.

The PS4 Pro offers a new level of graphics and performance to gamers, depending on which they prefer.

Gamers can set up their display and performance preferences differently for each game they own, allowing them to enjoy different titles without the limitations of previous-generation consoles.

The PlayStation Pro is basically a next-generation console (despite Sony’s claims to the contrary), offering over double the performance of a regular PS4 and using 14nm Polaris Radeon GPU architecture instead of the original’s 28nm Bonaire architecture.

Here is some information to help you get the most out of your new next-gen console.

Setup

Because setting up your new PlayStation 4 console might not be perfectly straightforward, Sony has released an official tutorial video to help you get the best picture from your PS4 Pro.

The video demonstrates how to enable HDR and other display features on the PS4 Pro.

HDR

All PS4 consoles will support HDR after the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro, meaning that gamers will be able to take advantage of improved brightness and contrast even if they don’t upgrade to the PS4 Pro.

However, HDR requires you to purchase an HDR-enabled TV, which usually have 4K displays.

Therefore, the PlayStation 4 Pro suits console gamers looking to take advantage of HDR with a 4K television.

While the PS4 Pro is great for gamers looking for a performance or graphics upgrade, if you really want to get the most out of your new console, considering investing in a television that can take advantage of the hardware’s powerful features.
