HBO is talking George R.R. Martin about creating a Game of Thrones prequel series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirmed discussions about a possible prequel series were ongoing.
“I would say it’s still kind of preliminary, ongoing talks,” said Bloys.
“There are areas we are exploring but I wouldn’t point to any one and say this is what we’re going to do.”
HBO seems interested in exploring every possible possibility with regards to taking the Game of Thrones series forwards after its eighth and final season.
When asked whether the final hours of the popular series would be released in theaters, Bloys said he hasn’t ruled it out.
“I want everything I can get for HBO, let me put it that way.”
Game of Thrones Season 7 is set to premiere later than usual, sometime in Winter 2017.
Awesome news. Great show!
