Nvidia has created the most energy-efficient supercomputer in the world

21 November 2016

Nvidia recently revealed the DGX SaturnV, the most energy-efficient supercomputer ever created.

In addition to being the most efficient supercomputer in the world, it also comes in as the 28th fastest overall, making it a serious beast of  a rig.

The DGX SaturnV supercomputer is powered by Nvidia’s new Tesla P100 GPUs and delivers 9.46 gigaflops/watt — a 42 percent improvement from the 6.67 gigaflops/watt delivered by the most efficient machine on the Top500 list released just last June.

That means it is capable of reaching exascale speeds, that’s 1 quintillion, or 1 billion billion, floating-point operations per second.

Unfortunately, the SaturnV won’t be seeing personal use any time soon, as it’s primarily aimed at AI computations for partners like Open AI, Stanford and New York University.
