The Champions League of video games is inevitable

23 November 2016

The French FA recently tied a partnership with Fifa developer EA Sport, that would see each of the 20 football clubs in Ligue 1 sponsoring two Fifa players, reports The Drum.

Additional football associations are reportedly planning similar initiatives to spark a wider competition across Europe.

While the majority of these eSports signings are FIFA-centric, many clubs now also boast a LoL, DOTA 2 and CounterStrike: Global Offensive team.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and more have all shown a keen interest in entering the market.
