Zuma calculator downloads soar after viral Grand Tour episode

1 December 2016

Zumalator is a South African app that parodies President Jacob Zuma’s inability to pronounce certain big numbers.

The app works much the same way as a standard calculator, however instead of just displaying your calculations, it uses infamous quotes used by President Zuma in the past.

It’s unsurprising that Cape Town developer Justin Nothling saw his app’s downloads soar following the latest episode of the Grand Tour.

The episode in question reminded the world of Zuma’s numeracy problems as well as other scandals from the past.

As a result, Zumalator’s download numbers nearly doubled overnight.

“Prior to the surge in downloads, Nothling said that the app had prior to last week received over 19 000 downloads on Google Play and over 15 000 on iTunes,” reports Fin24.

“But from Friday last week, the downloads have risen to over 30 000 on Google Play.”

You can check out the app for yourself here.
