Portal 2 available at local retail right now

20 April 2011

It is pretty common for local, and even international, retailers to break street dates and start selling games early. Usually doing so makes distributors and publishers angry, but not this time. In an unprecedented move, EA has reportedly given retailers the go ahead to start selling Portal 2 as of today.

Similar reports are flooding in from around the world, with GAME in the UK reportedly being given permission to start selling the game early.

We were able to confirm with BTGames Cavendish (Cape Town) that EA has given the go ahead to start selling the game, and Zaps has confirmed that they are officially allowed to start selling the game today.

“We were unexpectedly given the go ahead from EA,this morning,to release Portal 2 early – so we have!!” reads Zaps’ blog.

Local stock levels are reportedly very low, so if you have not yet pre-ordered the game then it is may be worth hurrying along to your nearest retailer to pick it up. However, it would probably be wise to call first as it is unclear whether all retailers are on board with this.
