Blizzard has filed for $8.5 million in damages from Bossland, a maker of “bots” for games such as World of Warcraft and Diablo 3, TorrentFreak reported.
The motion comes after Blizzard won a case against Bossland in the bot maker’s home territory, Germany.
German court the Bundesgerichtshof sided with Blizzard after it argued that bots damage the game for legitimate players by providing an unearned and unfair mechanical advantage.
It also pronounced in Blizzard’s favour in a related copyright infringement case against Bossland.
Blizzard’s latest motion in a US court in California is for a default judgement for copyright infringement.
Blizzard said Bossland sold at least 42,818 of its hacks in the US. The “conservatively estimated” damages come after Bossland previously testified to selling 118,939 products in the US since July 2013.
Blizzard estimated that a minimum of 36% of these were cheats for its games.
