Like an announcement from a parallel reality where this is actually a good idea or something, Ubisoft has revealed they’ve got Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell game-to-movie projects in the works. Apparently somebody over at Ubisoft HQ forgot to pass on that office memo about the Prince of Persia movie bombing at the box office.
“We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we’re open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script,” Ubisoft Motion Pictures boss Jean-Julien Baronnet tells Variety.
“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises – that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience,” adds senior marketing VP Jean de Rivieres, seemingly oblivious to a general, planetary contempt for this sort of thing.
