E3 is a week away and there is always this sense of mystery when this time of year approaches, as we get hyped for all our favourite games and announcements.
Sony has another stellar lineup of titles to show off, and Microsoft’s Xbox Scorpio debut is on everyone’s mind right now. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from each major briefing next week.
EA Play
EA are not having their typical E3 briefing this year rather they are hosting an event before E3 even kicks off. Star Ward Battlefront II will most likely be the highlight of the show, but I suspect we will see some new announcements like a new Dragon Age reveal.
Most of all the EA Play event will revolve mainly around sports games, in particular, FIFA 18. EA will take to the stage to show us how amazing the new game is compared to the last one which just released a few months ago.
Apart from the sports games, all we can hope is that EA has some other things to show us. You can catch the EA Play stream on Saturday 10 June at 21:00 SA time. The stream will be live over on EA’s website.
Microsoft
Xbox Scorpio! That will basically sum up the Microsoft media briefing this year at E3 as the company will spill the beans on everything we need to know about the 4K console. Pricing, how powerful it really is, and of course what it looks like.
The only concern we all have right now is the lack of exclusive games headed to the console. Microsoft will hopefully shed some light on their plans for the coming months, and what exactly we will be able to play when the console launches.
We know there will be no Halo announcement at the event, but we could perhaps see a Shadow of the Tomb Raider reveal which would see the game released as an Xbox Scorpio timed exclusive. Details are a little shady on Microsoft’s lineup, but we will see what happens.
You can catch the stream on Microsoft’s website. The event will kick off on Sunday 11 June at 23:00.
Bethesda
Bethesda has had a good year so far with their titles like Prey, the Quake Champions beta, and the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. Bethesda’s E3 event will most likely touch on a final release date for Quake Champions, while at the same time we hope to see Fallout 4 VR.
The most exciting thing of all though is that Bethesda’s E3 tease showed off two new attractions “under construction” at their Bethesda Land. This tease was an obvious sign that the studio plan on unveiling two new games at the event.
What these two new titles are is still a mystery, but they could be sequels to some of our favourite Bethesda games, or they could simply be new IPs. The Bethesda stream will go live on Monday 12 June at 04:00 in the morning. You can watch the stream on Bethesda’s YouTube channel.
The PC Gaming Show
The PC Gaming show will make its return this year. The event is mainly to showcase some new PC tech and games in the works. As E3 is mainly related to consoles, the PC Gaming Show is a great way for developers to shed some light on the PC gaming industry and also give us a taste of what is to come.
While the show will be taking place, no one has any idea on what will be shown off. All we can do is tune in and hope for the best. The PC Gaming show will go live on Monday 12 June at 19:00. You can watch the stream on the PC Gaming site.
Ubisoft
We already know that Ubisoft is hard at work on Far Cry 5, but that game has already been announced and we are more likely to see some new gameplay at the event. What we are all waiting for this year is the world premiere of the new Assassin’s Creed game. Be it called Origins, or Osiris, we don’t really care. All we need is a new Assassin’s Creed game, and we want it now.
Ubisoft will mostly likely also announce the sequel to their popular 2014 racer The Crew. Most interestingly, however, are the rumours that Ubisoft and Nintendo are working on a Mario RPG starring our favourite Raving Rabbids. This crossover title will either be announced at Ubisoft’s event or perhaps at Nintendo’s Direct stream.
One thing is for sure, we will NOT be seeing Beyond Good and Evil 2 at E3 after Ubisoft made that quite clear a while back. You can catch all the announcements over on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel, and Twitch stream on Monday 12 June at 22:00.
PlayStation E3 Media Briefing
This year’s Sony briefing will play host to a few of the most anticipated games on the PS4. We can expect to see all the best exclusive titles like The Last of Us Part II, God of War, and of course, Days Gone.
It is also important to remember that Sony has still giving PS VR as much as support as we need them too, so the briefing could play host to some new VR games headed to the device in the coming months. The question on everyone’s mind, however, is if Sony will be announcing the PS5 or not. According to an industry insider, this could be a possibility.
All we know for sure is that the briefing will host the best of the best in the PlayStation lineup and we all know Sony have the games to bring to the table. All we need now are some release dates and we will have a perfect briefing.
You can watch the PlayStation Media Briefing at 03:00 AM in SA. The stream will be live on live.playstation.com.

Nintendo Direct
Nintendo has not hosted a proper media briefing for a while now, but I think we can all agree that their “Direct” take on it works pretty well. The Nintendo Switch has become increasingly popular and Nintendo will have to bring their A-game to make sure that it stays that way. This includes keeping the games coming.
The Nintendo E3 Direct will most definitely play host to the upcoming Mario Odyssey, and Splatoon 2, but that is all we really know at this stage. Could we see a new Pokemon announcement? Maybe Nintendo will show off the Breath of the Wild’s expansion?
It is anybody’s game right now when it comes to Nintendo’s Direct as, by the look of things, the Switch’s popularity might have triggered developers to jump on board and develop games for it. The Nintendo E3 Direct will be going live on Tuesday 13 June at 18:00. You can watch it live on Nintendo’s dedicated E3 page.
