NCSoft has announced that Guild Wars 2 will undergo beta testing in the second half of 2011. The announcement was made during a conference call, in which NCSoft’s financial officer Jaeho Lee also hinted that the game will be out in 2012.
“Starting from year 2012, we believe substantial growth will be driven by new blockbuster titles like [Blade & Soul] and Guild Wars 2,” said Lee.
Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet maintains that the game will be released when it is ready, refusing to give any firm indication of when that will be.
The original Guild Wars remains one of the most respected contenders in the MMO space, and the sequel is looking absolutely breathtaking.
No indication of just how the beta will work, or how participants will be selected has bee shared at this point.
Earlier this month we stumbled across a gem of a video entitled Guild Wars 2 – Top 10 reasons to be interested. Remember, unlike most AAA MMOs, Guild Wars 2 will not require a monthly subscription to play.
