Atari is working on a new console based on PC technology – Report

17 June 2017

Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said the company is working on a new gaming console.

Speaking to VentureBeat, Chesnais said Atari was “back in the hardware business” and the company’s upcoming gaming console would be based on PC technology.

This follows a recent teaser video published by Atari for a product named the Ataribox.

Chesnais confirmed that the video’s title – “First look: A brand new Atari product. Years in the making.” – pointed towards the upcoming release of a new gaming console.

Atari is reportedly still working on the console’s design and said the product will be revealed at a later date.
