Musically driven Shoot ‘em up (SHMUP) Beat Hazard thoroughly charmed MyGaming when it was released back in April 2010. Be sure to check out MyGaming’s review of Beat Hazard.
While there was plenty of replay value afforded by being able to set your own tunes for the gameplay, one soon became old hand with the ebb and flow of the action.
Developer Cold Beam Games has a shot in the arm for this cool little indie title – a DLC pack that will add a bunch of cool stuff. Most intrigueing is the promise of online co-op and head-to-head play. Hopefully this will mean some sort of global scoreboard for popular tracks.
Titled Beat Hazard Ultra, those who own the game on Steam looking to revitalise the game can mark the date of 27 June 2011 on their calendars.
The DLC will be coming to PS3 and Mac “later in the year.” Unfortunately the Ultra DLC pack was rejected for XBLA by Microsoft, according to the developers. They will be approaching a publisher to try and make the DLC available on XBLA.
