The Witcher 2 developer to show new game at E3

25 May 2011

CD Projekt Red has become known as that Polish developer that makes the PC exclusive Witcher games. The first Witcher was solid, but it is the just released sequel that has really captured critical acclaim.

It would seem that the developer has plans to branch out, however, and has confirmed that it will be announcing a “brand new project” at this year’s E3 exhibition which is just two weeks away. The new game will apparently even be playable at the trade show, and industry personal will get hands-on time with it.

Sofa bound gamers are still holding out for a Witcher 2 announcement for console, but CD Projekt is adamant that the forthcoming announcement will not be Witcher related. Indeed, observant gamers have already spotted subtle interface hints in The Witcher 2 which suggest that the game was designed with console in mind as a future platform, and it makes very little business sense to develop high budget AAA games exclusively for PC these days, especially action RPGs which translate quite well to console.

Nothing else is known about the new project for now, but we can expect details to emerge between 7-9 June.

Any guesses what CD Projekt has up its sleeve? << Share your thoughts in the forums
