Orlando Pirates eSports team for FIFA launched

Orlando Pirates Football Club has launched an official FIFA eSports team.

The club will focus on FIFA for its first year in eSports before expanding into Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and Dota 2.

The Orlando Pirates FIFA team consists of 10 contracted players, which it will provide with support for training and events.

The team will be captained by three-time FIWC contender Abubakar Akhalwaya.

“The eSports industry is exploding and there is a huge talent pool in South Africa with untapped potential,” said Orlando Pirates.

“We have noticed that the level of professionalism in eSports has continued to grow over the past years and we feel that now is the right time to enter this industry.”
