Battle.net desktop app gets new social features

Blizzard has overhauled its Battle.net desktop app, adding new social features.

The application sports a new Social tab, which allows players to access their chats, Blizzard Groups, and player-to-player gifting.

Chat also works if a player is offline, allowing users to receive the chat when they next log in.

The new Blizzard Groups feature allows gamers to connect with others who share common interests and meet new friends.

Groups can have multiple text and voice channels, negating the need to use a third-party voice chat service.

Battle.net users can also purchase and send game gifts to friends, and create their own avatar and profile.
