Reddit is cracking down on communities built around offensive content, shutting down subreddits like /r/Nazi and /r/SexWithDogs, reported Ars Technica.

The purge comes after Reddit announced a new policy on content that incites violence.

“We will take action against any content that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual or a group of people,” said Reddit. This includes harm to animals.

Ars Technica noted that several controversial subreddits remain online, however. Depictions of violence are allowed as long as they are not in violation of the rule above.

“We understand that enforcing this policy may often require subjective judgment, so all of the usual caveats apply with regard to content that is newsworthy, artistic, educational, satirical, etc.”
