Amidst mind blowing gameplay footage of Battlefield 3 shown during EA’s E3 2011 press conference, the publisher announced that an open beta would be taking place in September. That’s just enough time for them to post-beta polish the game up for its 25 October release date.
EA also revealed that the game would feature a built it social networking tool, allowing players to connect with friends, pointing out that it will be “absolutely 100% free”, taking an obvious dig at Modern Warfare 3’s Elite service.
Talking about the game, DICE’s Kal Magnus Troedson called it “the game we always wanted to make, and will be the best Battlefield experience ever.”
