Intel said its Optane DIMMs will launch in the second half of 2018, reported Tom’s Hardware.
The modules will function as RAM, and will boast a higher density and different architecture to DDR4 memory.
Optane is based on a non-volatile memory technology called 3D Xpoint, which is being developed by Intel and Micron.
The 3D Xpoint technology is currently used in new Intel SSDs.
Intel will reveal more information about its Optane DIMMs closer to their launch date.
