Samsung has revealed the specifications of its new SZ985 SSD.

The SSD offers similar performance to Intel’s Optane SSDs and will reportedly be cheaper.

The device boasts Samsung’s Z-NAND flash memory, and is said to offer superior capacity and read/write performance to Intel’s P4800X Optane SSDs.

Its latency is 12-20 microseconds, which is slightly higher than the Optane drive’s 10-microsecond latency – but much lower than other flash SSDs.

The SZ985 is aimed at enterprise customers, with more consumer and enterprise Z-NAND drives expected in the future.
