Steam tweaks its review system to combat spam

Steam has implemented a number of changes to its community review system in an attempt to combat spam.

The new system will take users who try to manipulate the system into account when sorting reviews by helpfulness.

Store pages will also now show positive and negative reviews in proportion to the game’s overall review score.

This means that highly-rated titles will show more positive reviews in the default review interface, and negatively-rated titles will feature more negative reviews.

The changes are currently rolling out as a beta programme, and Steam is considering adding additional features to its review system – such as review score change over time.
