Speaking to Gamefront, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has talked up Modern Warfare 3, promising fans a “big” game, and an “epic single player campaign” that’s “all about taking players places they’ve never been before”.
That’s nothing much new for the annual pre-launch Call of Duty press hype, but previous titles have been criticised by some for average play times of around 6-8 hours.
“Our philosophy on the campaign has always [been] the same,” explains Bowling. “We never set out … to make X hours of game time. We write a story and the story dictates the length.”
Asked how long the next one’s going to be, he says only that, “The game’s not finished yet. I can’t say it’s X amount of hours cause we don’t know.”
In the meantime then, he’s pretty confident fans won’t be disappointed.
“Coming out of Modern Warfare 2, we did have this very big vision, and a lot of that was a by-product of having the 25, 30 million players that we have,” he says.
“So Modern Warfare 3 is about the fans – in every aspect of the game.”
