Microsoft’s E3 keynote “IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE”-announcement that Minecraft would be coming over to Xbox was easily the most surprising thing that happened during the event, but nothing else was actually said about it.
Fortunately enough, creator Markus “Notch” Persson is one of those industry people that lurks around Reddit, and dropped by to say a few things about it.
Most significantly, perhaps, it turns out “a new team is doing the Xbox version”, with Notch collaborating as game designer. Notch didn’t specifically name the team responsible for the console version just yet, saying for the moment only that they “have done several console games before”.
He also added that the game “won’t be a straight port”, and that “You will be able to play it without Kinect BUT WITH THE POWER OF KINECT YOU WILL FEEL CLOSER TO YOUR GAME THAN EVAR BEFORE AND ALSO IT SAVES KITTENS”.
More on this as it happens.
