Sifu’s developer Sloclap has revealed that the hardcore kung fu game has topped one million sales.
“We are thrilled by the reception of Sifu from both fans and press alike,” said Pierre Tarno, the executive producer at Sloclap. “We set out to create an authentic, kung fu action game that paid homage to our favourite kung fu films.”
Sloclap revealed other interesting statistics about Sifu, including that players have logged a total of 10 million in-game hours since its 8 February release.
Likewise, over 45% of players have completed the game’s challenging second level, and 150,000 succeeded in completing the game.
Sifu is a challenging kung fu fighting game that embraces the style and feel of classic martial arts movies and features a story centred around a quest for revenge.
The game also uses a unique death mechanic that allows the player character to resurrect when killed in battle at the cost of growing older as more deaths are suffered.
Sifu is Sloclap’s second game after Absolver and has proven to be a great success for the studio despite its difficulty.
