Best places to buy gaming hardware in South Africa

3 March 2022

Unfortunately, South Africa does not have a true one-stop-shop – like Amazon – for all the gaming products you could want.

While South Africans can buy from Amazon, you will have to pay expensive import fees, which often make the transaction more expensive than it would be at a local store.

Thankfully, South Africa has various great stores that each stock an extensive range of certain types of gaming products.

PC gaming – Evetech

If you’re looking for general PC accessories or cheap gaming equipment, online stores like Takealot and physical stores like Incredible Connection will serve your needs.

However, if you’re a hardcore gamer looking for the latest gaming laptops and PC hardware or are upgrading your workstation computer, I’d recommend Evetech.co.za.

Although there are many stores to choose from, Evetech seems to have great variety in its product range, while offering amazing prices.

You can buy high-quality PC components from brands such as Nvidia, AMD, and Intel, as well as a range of impressive peripherals such as mechanical keyboards and gaming mouses.

You can also buy a pre-built PC or grab an upgrade kit that’s tailored to your specific needs.

Their range and customizability also extends to their laptop and workstation options, and laptop purchases even include a free bag. For some deals, you’ll also get free earphones.

Evetech offers free courier delivery to your home if you live in main centres (calculated based on the postal code and suburb) – which complements the affordability and convenience of buying from their online store.

Consoles – Game

There is limited stock of the latest-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles in South Africa – no matter where you shop. The best store to find a console is Game and your best bet for accessories is Takealot.

There are other stores that stock consoles but they seemed to stock one or the other – whereas Game stocks both the PlayStation and Xbox.

Other stores also offer accessories but Takealot has a much broader product selection and you’re likely to find what you’re looking for.
