The acclaimed turn-based strategy game XCOM 2 will shut down its Steam multiplayer servers on 28 March.
This will come in a patch that removes the player’s multiplayer and challenge mode access.
Steam players can still enjoy the campaign mode for XCOM 2 despite there no longer being any online features.
The announcement was made via an official statement on the XCOM Twitter account.
As a heads up to the XCOM 2 community, we wanted to share that we will be retiring services for Multiplayer and Challenge Mode for the Steam version of the game. On March 28, an update to the Steam version of XCOM 2 will remove the functionalities.

Notably, however, XCOM’s developer Firaxis said that the console, Mac, and Linux versions of games will still have access to online servers.
Firaxis is currently working on a new RTS, Marvel’s Midnight Sun, which is expected to release in late 2022.
