Korean Samsung users have found that Samsung’s Game Optimizing Service (GOS) application is throttling over 10,000 apps across the company’s range of smartphones.
Twitter user GaryeonHan has posted a complete list of all the apps inhibited by the GOS app, showing that it isn’t only games but also Instagram, TikTok, and Netflix.
Samsung is even limiting some of its default apps like Secure Folder and Samsung Pay.
that we use in our daily life, not just games. Importantly, we confirmed that benchmarking apps such as Geekbench and 3dmark were not included in the list. This is a kind of scam.

None of the popular benchmarking apps like 3DMark, Antutu, and Geekbench 5 are on the list, suggesting that previous benchmarks falsely represent the devices’ real-world performance.
A Korean YouTuber discovered a trick to demonstrate this by changing 3DMark’s package name on his S22 to Genshin Impact and then redoing the benchmark with GOS running in the background.
The results obtained showed that the overall benchmark score dropped by 1477, effectively throttling performance by slightly more than 50%.

This screenshot shows that the renamed 3DMark’s benchmark score is drastically lower than the original.
The GOS app is meant to improve battery life and reduce heat by limiting performance, but huge disparities like the one shown above will disappoint many customers.
Samsung is conducting an internal investigation into the topic and should be releasing an official statement soon.
