Evetech vs. Rebel Tech – Where to buy PC components

PC gaming is an expensive hobby, which is why MyGaming has decided to conduct a price comparison between two of the most popular PC shops in Gauteng, namely Evetech and Rebel Tech.

Evetech and Rebel Tech both have physical stores based in Johannesburg and online shopping platforms that offer consumers nationwide delivery.

We chose components that both tech retailers stock to see how their prices compare.

GPU

If you add up the totals of all the GPUs listed, it ends in a tie.

However, the two shops tend to stock different GPU manufacturers – Evetech stocks mainly ASUS and MSI cards, while Rebel Tech primarily has Gigabyte and ASUS cards.

CPU

Rebel Tech’s CPU prices were cheaper than Evetech’s in most cases.

You can choose either store if you want to go with an AMD CPU, as the price difference is negligible.

Motherboard

You should buy from Rebel Tech if you want to run a 12th-Gen Intel processor with the ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-F motherboard, as it is nearly R5,000 cheaper than on Evetech.

However, premium motherboards that support AMD processors are generally cheaper on Evetech – especially the ROG STRIX X570-F, which is over R2,000 cheaper than on Rebel Tech.

RAM

Rebel Tech beats Evetech fair and square when it comes to RAM prices.

However, it is important to note that only Evetech currently stocks DDR5 RAM.

Additionally, Evetech’s DDR4 offerings go up to speeds of 4000 MHz, while Rebel Tech only offers up to 3200 MHz.

In conclusion, if you plan on building a new 12th-Gen Intel gaming rig, you will be better off buying a motherboard from Rebel Tech, as it will save you a couple of thousand Rand.

However, if you want DDR5 RAM, you will have to look elsewhere – such as at Evetech.

Evetech is also your best bet for high-end motherboards that support AMD processors.

Most other components are similarly priced across both retailers.
