MyGaming reader demographics analysed

Digital Audience Measurement and Research company Effective Measure recently released their latest South African online statistics, revealing that people in their late twenties (called Digital Warriors) are the largest Internet user group in South Africa.

The May 2011 Effective Measure stats reveal that over 1.8 million Internet users in South Africa, accounting for 18% of the region’s Internet population, are Digital Warriors who shape online trends. “This makes the 25-30 year old age group the largest and an extremely influential demographic,” Effective Measure said in a press statement.

“Digital Warriors pave the way for older and younger generations to purchase goods and services, conduct research and reach out to communities online,” said Effective Measure Business Development Manager Francois Vorster.

Effective Measure highlights that Digital Warriors in South Africa frequent news and portals websites, are the largest audience for news, automotive and TV entertainment websites, and are the most active segment online on Tuesday and Saturday.

Digital Warriors are dominant compared to other age groups online: “Over 260,000 digital natives accessed the Internet via a mobile device in May,” said Vorster.

The latest Effective Measure statistics for May 2011 reveal that Digital Warriors also dominate MyGaming’s readership. The statistics are gathered from an overall survey sample of 30,000 local internet users, of which MyGaming forms a part.
