Premise
Hypercharge is a classic-style third and first-person shooter game inspired by Toy Story and Small Soldiers.
Players are placed in the boots of Sgt. Max Ammo, the smartest and strongest of all Action Figures.
The main objective is to protect each of the coloured cores, known as hyper-cores, from a constant wave of enemies using weapons, buildables to create defensive traps, and turrets to fend off all attackers.
You might be small, but you pack a punch as you blast, melt, explode and even disintegrate any toy that gets in your way.
Map design
Whether your chosen battleground is the bedroom, backyard, or supermarket, Hypercharge Unboxed has scaled each map to perfection as you (the toys) climb ordinary objects that now seem like mountains – such as bedside tables, drawers, and countertops.
Digital Cybercherries have managed to cram each environment with details that make each level feel alive with toys that have spawned from childhood memories.
Weapons and attachments
Whilst navigating the maps, you can find a vast variety of weapons and attachments to suit your play style.
From snipers to machine guns, each weapon can be upgraded as you play to increase its damage, range, and ammo capacity.
Game modes
Hypercharge’s single-player mode allows you to play either in wave mode or free roam – each of which allows you to select a difficulty mode that determines what enemy varieties you’ll face.
These enemy types include robots, zombies, tanks, small soldiers, dinosaurs ,and a few huge toys that are essentially boss encounters that can be pretty challenging.
If you’re more into online multiplayer games, Hypercharge Unboxed will have you battle evil hordes of weaponised toys with up to four players in cooperative mode, or betray your small allies and face each other in several classic competitive modes.
Customisation
Players can unlock new action figures, heads, skins, and weapon materials for their action figures.
Although the customisation isn’t as in-depth as some other titles, there is enough to unlock to keep you busy for a good while.
