A developer from Santa Monica Studio – the studio that is working on God of War Ragnarok – has teased that a new gameplay mechanic will be appearing in the highly anticipated sequel.
In a new tweet posted by developer Beau Anthony Jimenez, he shares a video of someone playing the original God of War for the first time and experiencing their first toss of the Leviathan Axe.
Included in the tweet, Jimenez responded that he’s “excited for players to react similarly to what we’re cooking up on God of War: Ragnarök.”
This clearly points to fans that the game will feature new gameplay mechanics of some sort, and while some new mechanics have already been highlighted in the gameplay trailer for Ragnarok, this tweet suggests there could be more surprises for fans.
Although the release date for God of War Ragnarök is still unknown, MyGaming reported that it is confirmed for 2022 and is expected to be released toward the end of the year.
PlayStation has been very tight-lipped about what the title will have to offer, and outside of the new gameplay trailer, we’ve still seen very little of Ragnarök as a whole.
When we are shown more, however, it sounds like some great surprises will be in store.
So excited for players to react similarly to what we’re cooking up on God of War: Ragnarök.
Suffice to say, work has been a blast😊 https://t.co/n1CWGjwdgq
