In an announcement on Ubisoft’s blog, the company stated that it is bringing Rainbow Six Siege’s gameplay to mobile as the free-to-play Rainbow Six Mobile.
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be available on Android and iOS devices.
Players who want to try Rainbow Six Mobile early and stay informed on the game’s launch can sign up for upcoming gameplay tests at rainbowsixmobile.com.
Rainbow Six Mobile will feature the same 5v5 matches that players of Siege will be familiar with and will include maps like Bank and Border, as well as familiar game modes like Bomb and Secure Area.
However, the developers have made it clear that the game is “the mobile representation of the entire Rainbow Six brand” and that “it’ll evolve very much into its own thing.”
The gameplay is optimised for touchscreens, and the developers have included “an entirely new gameplay control system developed specifically for mobile”.
The game’s website shows ten confirmed operators, namely Ash, Sledge, Twitch, Thermite, Hibana, Caveira, Bandit, Smoke, Valkyrie, and Mute.
While the game will be free-to-play, players can spend currency (which they’ve either purchased or acquired through playing) to buy cosmetics and Operators.
However, players will be able to try unowned Operators once-off before deciding to unlock them permanently.
