Sometimes the only thing that can help me blow off a little steam is some good old-fashioned couch co-op gameplay.

Consequently, I’ve listed ten of my favourite local co-op and split-screen games that you should definitely look at if you want a good time with friends.

1. A Way Out

A Way Out is an exclusively co-op action-adventure game in which two players must work together to escape from prison in true Shawshank Redemption fashion.

2. Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is the third looter FPS in the Borderlands series, and you can play through the whole game in split-screen with a friend.

3. Diablo III

While we all wait eagerly for Diablo IV to release, you and three of your friends can slay all the demons you want with Diablo III’s hack-and-slash action-RPG gameplay.

4. Don’t Starve Together

Don’t Starve Together is the standalone multiplayer expansion to Don’t Starve. You and a friend can join forces to try and survive in the game’s brutal and wacky wilderness.

5. Human Fall Flat

If you want some serious laughs and a hilarious experience, Human Fall Flat’s physics-based platformer gameplay is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

6. It Takes Two

It Takes Two’s innovative and creative puzzle gameplay is why it has several awards under its belt. You can either play the game split-screen or invite a friend to join you for free with the Friend’s Pass.

7. LEGO Batman: The Video Game

Any LEGO game is a blast to play in split-screen, but LEGO Batman is a childhood favourite of mine.

8. Minecraft

Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time for good reason — it gives players the chance to build almost anything they can think of.

9. Overcooked! 2

In Overcooked! 2, you must cooperate with friends to cook and prepare different dishes across various absurd restaurants.

10. Portal 2

If you haven’t played this mind-bending puzzle platformer, do yourself and some friends a favour and try Portal 2. You can now even design your own co-op puzzles to frustrate your friends even more.
