Square Enix announced during its 20th-anniversary livestream that Kingdom Hearts 4 is now in development.
No details were provided about when the game will be released or which platforms it will be available on.
However, the Kingdom Hearts IV reveal trailer introduced “an epic new storyline” called the Lost Master Arc and confirmed Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy’s return.
The game’s events will unfold in the new city of Quadratum, which Square Enix describes as an “expansive city set in a gorgeous, realistic world unlike anything ever seen before in the Kingdom Hearts series.”
Alongside Kingdom Hearts IV, Square Enix also announced the development of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link — a mobile game for Android and iOS.
The mobile game will involve new adventures in Kingdom Hearts 3’s world, Scala ad Caelum, where players will face off against the Heartless.
Square Enix has confirmed that Missing-Link’s plot will tie into Kingdom Hearts 4’s story.
This mobile game also doesn’t have a release date yet, but there will be a closed beta test later this year for specific regions.
